According to leading Mongolian news portal news.mn on 9 AM today, September 6, 2010, Minister of Foreign Affairs Of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar has informed during media briefing last Saturday that, with respect to not a few recent incidents of PRC workers being connected to crimes and breaches of law and Mongolians hating PRC citizens and threatening through media sources,  that “ Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Mongolia has called attention that stirring up by media sources of any communications of threat to Chinese citizens who are working in Mongolia might negatively influence safety of citizens of Mongolia travelling in People’s Republic of China.”
 
The Minister Zandanshatar has said that out of 989 thousand citizens of Mongolia who travel abroad, 745 thousand travel to China and stressed that “overly stirring up or covering up issue of Chinese citizens who are connected to crimes and breaches of law on the territory of Mongolia has certain degree of possibility of negative influence on safety of citizens of Mongolia and all matters should resolved according to law.”
 
The statement by the Minister Zandanshatar refers to recent strong Mongolian media backlash over August 25,2010  assault by PRC construction workers, working on construction site of building of Central Laboratory of General Agency of Professional Compliance Inspections by grant aid of PRC, of Mongolian police officers who have rushed to call to investigate a fight between PRC construction workers and members of a Mongolian ultranationalist group. Previously this year, there has been reported manslaughter by PRC national of a Mongolian citizen during a clash with illegal private miners at a PRC-invested fluorspar mine in Airag village of Dornogobi province. The incident created media wide controversy and also was followed up by reported robberies of some small PRC-invested mines not far from Ulaanbaatar by a Mongolian ultranationalist group.
 
According to major Mongolian portal gogo.mn on Friday, September 3, 2010, Mongolian immigration authorities have briefed the media that at the moment, 29150 foreign citizens reside in Mongolia including 16675 citizens of PRC, 3068 citizens of Russian Federation, 2157 citizens of Republic of Korea, 1893 citizens of the United States of America, 621 citizens of Japan, 218 citizens of Korea and 1518 citizens of other countries.
 
Moreover, there are 2935 temporary residents, 21682 long term residents on official business, 1547 long term residents on private business, 815 permanent residents and 2138 immigrants. 1204 of immigrants are from PRC, 871 from Russian Federation, 36 from Republic of Korea and 28 from other countries.
 
Recently updated law on legal status of foreign citizens provides for deportation at the request of Mongolian police of a foreign citizen with two acts of violation of Mongolian law including those committed at Mongolian spouses of foreign citizens.
 
As of August of this year, 773 foreign citizens have been deported from Mongolia including 9 foreign citizens from Nepal, India and Korea in this August engaging illegally in religious activities, while last year 2575 foreign citizens have been deported.
 
Fines to enterprises for hiring illegal foreign workers have been increased to 1 million MNT (755USD) per person, the portal reported.
 
Last Thursday, September 2, 2010, major Mongolian daily “Udriin sonin” has reported on arrival of representatives from PRC for investigation of the fight.
 
On Tuesday, August 31, 2010, according to gogo.mn, a senior representative of State Agency of Investigations has informed that criminal case have been filed against six citizens of PRC who assaulted and caused injuries to Mongolian police officers and members of ultranationalist group including three workers at the Mongolian border as thirty construction workers were being sent home by employer company and the six citizens were taken in custody to Gantskhudag detention center on August 28,2010
