Mongolia"s State Prosecutor"s office on Tuesday requested job suspension of the head of the country"s anti-corruption agency.
The head of the investigation unit of the prosecutor"s office said during a press conference that "Ch. Sangaragchaa overstepped his authority on many things, including financial and investigative matters."
"He also made false statements" to the state prosecutor"s office, said the investigation unit head, referring to statements made by Sangaragchaa on Monday.
The prosecutor"s office refused to disclose detailed charges against the official, saying it was a "state secret."
But Sangaragchaa said the state prosecutor"s office was attacking the agency for political reasons, saying the office had asked the agency to drop corruption cases related to some of the country"s top officials and a lawmaker.
