Minister for Environment and Tourism L.Gansukh has held a meeting to discuss the construction of a road to transport coal from Tavantolgoi, Oyutolgoi, and Gashuunsukhait .

At present, about 500 trucks, each carrying about 80-100 tons of coal – much above their capacity limit -- use mostly unpaved roads to reach the Chinese border.

This represents a threat to both the environment and traffic safety. The repeated passages of convoys coals dust pollution and also abroad and damage the existing earth roads. Moreover the fact the trucks are overloaded and manoeuvre on earth roads increases security  and transit issues.

Minister L.Gansukh has been reported to have requested the roads to be paved and ready by January 1, 2011.

Officials from the Ministry of Road, Transportation, Construction and City Development and representatives of Oyutolgoi, Tavantolgoi, Energy Resource, Erdenes MGL and Coal Road companies attended the meeting.
