M. Mashbat, the man who drove into the ger on Sukhbaatar Square last Wednesday early morning, injuring six protesters, has been declared to be mentally unstable. He had just been released from hospital this April 5, after 17 days of treatment and just two days before the incident.

It has been disclosed that Mashbat has been treated 28 times for mental illness since 1986 and has a history of violence.

He has been reported to have assaulted doctors during his treatments, and was also sentenced to four years in prison for hooliganism in 2000, serving a little more than three years as he released 7 months and 2 days before time.

The National Mental Health Center believes that Mashbat, who is 48, unemployed and lives in Bayanzurkh district, is fit to be tried for his crime.
